Colour management is a method for ensuring colour consistency-from the scanner or digital camera to the computer screen, to the colour proofer, to final output on press. Because each device has a different colour space and gamut, the colour must be managed as it moves from device to device. Colour monitors use the RGB gamut whereas image setters, plate setters and presses use the CMYK colour space. The software translates these device specific colours into a common set of colours to assure predictable reproduction.
